The traditional wine of Montefalco, made exclusively from Sagrantino grapes, vines grown for centuries on the slopes of the Umbrian hills characterised by great structure and longevity.
The vineyard is located about 400 m . s.l.m. on the eastern slope of the Val d’Agno. The terraced vineyards face south perfectly inserted in an ecosystem intact in the woods. The limestone soil is rich in clay and rock somewhere outcropping creates an extreme habitat for growing grapes.
70 % Cabernet , 30 % Merlot.
The harvest carried in crates is very meticulous and completely manual in order to have the best raw material possible.
The grapes arrive intact in the cellar where it is stemmed and crushed to ferment for about 10 days in open topped timber. Alcoholic fermentation by indigenous yeasts. It follows a stop on the skins for about 3-4 weeks. The malo – lactic fermentation is spontaneous. No fining or stabilizing treatment is performed. It is aged in oak barrels for about 20 months and for at least 6 months in bottle.
Intense ruby red and deep
Tasting the wine shows great personality and a perfect aromatic taste and smell. The silky and enveloping tannins act as a great pillar for this wine of great evolutionary potential.
Excellent with tasty dishes of meat and game, and aged cheeses.
